If you want to use AKAI MPC for the beat make, you should connect AKAI MPC and Turn table (or Mixer). And, different the direct connection AKAI MPC and Turn table (Mixer) is possible or not is like the following.
In case of Turn table with built in pre amp
- Turn table→AKAI MPC (Direct connection is possible)
In case of Turn table without built in pre amp
- Turn table→Mixer etc…→AKAI MPC

How to the connection
To AKAI MPC’s RECORD IN jack
AKAI MPC 2500 including RECORD IN jack on bottom left of rear panel.
Cable that extended from Turn table (or Mixer) connect to AKAI MPC’s RECORD IN jack.
RCA pin type cable should change to the PHONE cable
Input (output) of Turn table’s (or Mixer) side are probably RCA pin type is popular. But, AKAI MPC (2500)’s RECORD IN jack is PHONE type.
For example, one side is RCA pin type and other side is PHONE type that like a audio-technica ATL481A/3.0. It’s no problem for those connection. But, both side are RCA pin type that like a ATL464A
You should do after the connected those
INPUT THRU to ON
You can’t make sound as this rate. If you connected AKAI MPC and Turn table (or Mixer), you should push [INPUT THRU] button ON. (Frame the red border at the above picture.) And, change [Input thru] “OFF” to “ON”.
Source can select from ANALOG or DIGITAL. In case of connect the Turn table (or Mixer), select the ANALOG. (ST is STEREO. L is Left channel, R is Right channel.)
Control the Volume Level by REC GAIN
If you feel Volume Level is low, you can control Volume Level higher with the REC GAIN control (frame the red boarder at the above picture). And, the control knob that by REC GAIN is MAIN VOLUME. You can control the (Master) Volume Level with keeping balance.
